In my work with neurofeedback, I see the dance shifting and changing all the time. Although patterns get more stable perhaps with “overpractice”, they are still full of movement and change.

But perhaps that’s where you were going with your question about how they could be both stable and changing at once? The resilience of returning to a practiced pattern combined with the possibilities of shifts emerging from the variability – sometimes dramatic, more often subtle; sometimes permanent, sometimes temporary… Neuroplasticity as co-ordination dynamics.
