TERMINOLOGY – To grok (pronounced /ˈɡrɒk/) something is to ‘share the same reality or line of thinking with another physical or conceptual entity.’
The prolific science~fiction writer Robert A. Heinlein coined the term in his best-selling 1961 book Stranger in a Strange Land. In Heinlein’s view of quantum theory, grokking is the intermingling of intelligence that necessarily affects both the observer and the observed…(the observer~observed)
From the novel:
“Grok means to understand so thoroughly that the observer becomes a part of the observed—to merge, blend, intermarry, lose identity in group experience. It means almost everything that we mean by religion, philosophy, and science—and it means as little to us (because of our Earthly assumptions) as color means to a blind man.”
The Oxford English Dictionary defines grok as “to understand intuitively or by empathy; to establish rapport with” and “to empathize or communicate sympathetically (with); also, to experience enjoyment.” Other forms include “groks” (present third person singular), “grokked” (past participle) and “grokking” (present participle).
In an ideological context, a grokked concept becomes part of the person who contributes to its evolution by improving the doctrine, perpetuating the myth, espousing the belief, adding detail to the social plan, refining the idea or proofing the theory.
TSS blog is designed to help you grok the squiggle sense, an awareness of the complementary nature, expressed via complementary pairs of complementary aspects and their particular coordination dynamics, all symbolized by the squiggle symbol (~).
TSS blog is meant to do much more than inform you of facts. It is meant to help you grok, as is were to ‘digest’ the ideas, to internalize them, make them a part of your psychobiology, your brain~behavior.
But why? What purpose does the grokking serve? Possibly the best reason of all: To get in touch with the heart of your very awareness, your sentience, that which makes you you, what enables you to read words, see sights, hear sounds, feel touches and, as it were, make sense of them.
In this strange but crucial scenario, to grok the squiggle sense allows you the opportunity to connect with the fundamental aspects of your core being, that which allows you to be a observer~observing: grokking the squiggle sense allows you to grok grokking!’
